Meggitt Sensing System’s VM600 monitoring platform is selected for the giant Manifa offshore project

Fribourg, Switzerland – Meggitt Sensing System’s subsidiary Vibro-Meter SA announces he received a purchase order for one hundred VM600 protection & monitoring systems, to be delivered in 2010 to the giant Manifa offshore oil & gas project. This order for advanced on-line machinery monitoring systems will reach circa $2.5 Mio for Meggitt.

Saudi Arabian Oil (Saudi Aramco), based in Dhahran is the world's largest oil company. Their $10 bn Manifa project was started to build in 2008. It will be Saudi Aramco’s largest offshore field when fully operational, with a capacity of 900’000 barrel heavy crude oil per day. In addition, 900 million cubic feet a day of associated gas and 65,000 barrels a day of condensate will be produced. The project also involves the expansion of the on-shore processing and refining facilities and the construction of four on- and offshore pipeline systems and a water supply system.

The order received by Meggitt fulfils online monitoring needs for Manifa’s main package, covering the central hydrocarbon processing facilities including a gas-oil separation plant. This first package was awarded in 2008 to the Italian contractor Snamprogetti. Meggitt Sensing System’s VM600 protection & monitoring systems will be delivered in cooperation with partner companies SKF and Invensys and will ensure the protection and monitoring of critical balance-of-plant machinery including: water injection pumps, fire water pumps, oil pumps, fans, compressors, etc...

Plant operators that choose the VM600 system and its advanced Condition Monitoring Software to improve their Plan Asset Management appreciate particularly its single system approach, designed for maximum flexibility, addressing thousands of parameters across a networked Management system for a large machine numbers in several plants. The main benefit delivered by the VM600 system to plant operators is the combination of advanced monitoring, diagnostic and optimization functions, with a great simplicity of use and access to other systems’ interfaces.

In addition to the advanced VM600 monitoring systems already selected by Saudi Aramco, Meggitt Sensing Systems is also proposing sensing products, installation and commissioning services to our customers, supporting them in their global effort to improve the plant’s safety, efficiency and availability.
